Tel Aviv, Israel - Yarkon River walk

Tel Aviv, Israel - Yarkon River walk: 23 Aug, 2013 (11 miles)

It was almost the end of our stay in Tel Aviv and I had to explore the western end of the Yarkon River. So I set out around 3 p.m. in the heat. Wound my way through Carmel market to King George St and kept heading north-west when the name of the street keeps changing and I lost track until I hit Ibn Gavirol (this is spelled differently in each map you see). Then I headed north on  Ibn Gavirol until I hit the river. The river trail was nice. There is a petting zoo along the way with a few deer, an emu and a few other animals and birds. I wasn't sure I wanted to pet the emu, but there it was.... I kept going until the next bridge let me hop on to a "island' in the middle of the river. That piece of land had a nice circular loop. I completed the loop and returned to the bridge. I then headed south and meandered my way back to the hotel. I was quite exhausted. The heat was draining, but I managed to stay in the shade most of the time. Bye Tel Aviv. I loved the stay. Loved the food. Put on some weight (Not too thrilled about it. But will lose it soon when I start back on my jogging in DC.) As always I love DC :)
