Chain Bridge to Key Bridge, July 7, 2012; 9 miles
I always messed up this hike. If you are not on the right trail you land up hopping over big boulders and making your life miserable. This was the first time I figured out how to take the decent route from Chain Bridge to Key bridge along the Virginia bank. It is a really lovely hike, because for a considerable distance you are about a hundred feet above the Potomac, peering down on the river. Then you take a steep descent and continue along the river until you get to the Key bridge. From the Key bridge I took the CNO canal back to Chain bridge.
